MPD Limited came to us as a highly capable, family-owned building and construction company with decades of genuine expertise — and a brand that was holding them back. Working predominantly as a secondary contractor, they were rarely the first name in the room when the big commercial projects were being discussed. Their ambition was clear: move up the supply chain, deal directly with clients, and win the kind of complex, high-value commercial work their team had the skills to deliver. What they needed was a brand, a positioning, and a market presence that reflected who they actually were. That is exactly what we built.
Based in Coventry and operating across the Midlands, MPD Limited has built a strong reputation through the quality of its work — property development, refurbishment, fit-out and interiors, adapted living schemes, and full project management across seven sectors. The problem was not capability. It was visibility and positioning.
As a secondary contractor, MPD was largely invisible to the clients who mattered most. Their work was excellent, but it was being credited to the prime contractors above them in the chain. They had no brand language to speak to commercial clients directly, no website structured around the sectors and services that would attract the right enquiries, and no visual identity strong enough to stand alongside the established names they were competing against. The ambition to move into larger commercial projects — music venues, healthcare facilities, educational buildings, and commercial fit-outs — required a brand that could open those doors.
The brief was straightforward: reposition MPD as a prime contractor, give them a brand identity and strapline that communicated their ambition and values, and build the marketing infrastructure to take them to market with confidence.
We began with a thorough strategic review of MPD's positioning, competitive landscape, and growth ambitions. The plan identified the shift from secondary to prime contractor as the central strategic objective and mapped out the sectors, audiences, and messages that would drive that transition. It also identified the commercial sector — with its more complex, higher-value projects — as the primary growth opportunity for a team with MPD's breadth of expertise.
With the strategy agreed, we repositioned MPD as a prime contractor capable of managing the entire construction phase from brief to handover, in full compliance with CDM 2015 regulations. The new strapline, "Building a Better Future", was developed to capture both the practical nature of their work and the genuine care they bring to every project, whether that is a 1,200-capacity music venue or a fully adapted family home for a disabled child. The rebrand gave MPD a visual identity that could stand confidently in front of commercial clients, architects, and project managers.
A full graphical brand language was developed to give MPD the visual tools to communicate consistently across every touchpoint. This included a complete set of brand guidelines covering typography, colour palette, imagery direction, and graphic devices — ensuring that every piece of communication, from a tender document to a social post, looked and felt like the same confident, professional business.
The new website was built around MPD's sectors and services, structured to speak directly to the commercial clients, housing associations, healthcare providers, and educational institutions they were targeting. The adapted living section, one of MPD's most distinctive and emotionally compelling areas of work, was given its own dedicated space, with customer stories that demonstrated the real-world impact of their expertise. The site positioned MPD clearly as a prime contractor: the single point of accountability for the entire construction phase.
MPD's fleet is one of their most visible brand assets on-site, on the road, and in the communities where they work. We designed a full vehicle livery that brought the new brand to life in the physical world, turning every van and vehicle into a moving demonstration of MPD's professionalism and ambition.
We took on the management of MPD's social media channels, developing a content strategy focused on showcasing completed projects, demonstrating sector expertise, and building the kind of credibility that attracts commercial clients. LinkedIn was prioritised as the primary channel for reaching developers, architects, housing associations, and commercial property managers, the decision-makers who commission the work MPD wanted to win.
